The northwest site of the Family Star Montessori/Head Start program is under-utilized. The building itself boasts 31,979 square feet while only 50% of this space is currently occupied. Administration has long discussed possibilities for the remaining space. Some of the questions the Family Star board is interested in knowing is whether the current location is adequate and if so, how the school could potentially expand and in what capacity.

In an effort to provide Family Star Montessori with knowledge of the the full site potentials, research was undertaken to analyze the present needs of early childhood education, low-income population movements, etc. in the metropolitan Denver area and to assess the needs of current users of the site.

As a result, this site has been developed as a decision-maker. While generating visual analysis of the variables influencing Family Star's possibilities, this "mapping" of connections serves as informant to allow the organization to come to a final decision on northwest Family Star site development.

This research project was made possible by the generousity of the Jennifer Moulton Foundation.
